Cold symptoms? 2 ways to feel better, faster
The beginnings of a runny nose, some sneezing and coughing, fatigue. You know you need to treat yourself well ─ but here's why: you can actually help shorten your cold and make your symptoms milder. How?
- Drinking lots of water, juice or clear soup helps loosen congestion and clear your nose ─ which helps speed up that feeling of relief.
- If your cold has invited a headache along, blowing your nose with too much force can put more pressure on the blood vessels in your head. By blowing your nose gently, you can help reduce the pressure. Before you do, thin out mucus by drinking something warm or running your shower to breathe in some steam.*
To help prevent your next cold:
- At work, wipe down your desk, wash your hands and keep them away from your nose and mouth. Remember to sneeze or cough into your elbow to help stop germs from spreading.
- Do your best to keep a healthy distance from sick co-workers.
*If your symptoms are severe, talk to your doctor.
